About the Aircraft

The EA-18G Growler has been in operation since 2009 by the U.S. Navy. It is an electronic warfare aircraft developed based on the F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter and as a successor to the EA-6B Prowler. It is equipped with advanced electronic warfare equipment such as an AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system and ALQ-227 communication jamming system. In addition to a dedicated system officer with the pilot in the tandem cockpit, the EA-18G Growler demonstrates high electronic warfare capability. The EA-18G Growler is also deployed in the U.S. Navy's electronic warfare Squadron VAQ-132 Scorpions, which are regularly deployed in Japan, and is playing an active role.
